Summary of case: The employer states that Mr Jones has been a manager of the York branch for 4 years and 14 years with the firm. He is in a responsible position that could only be filled by an experienced member of staff, and all available men have been called up. Mr Jones also wants to make his own domestic claim. He is married with one child, and would have to sell up and his family live upon the moneys realized during his absence. He joined the Volunteer Training Corps and is willing to perform any services which may be required of him. He is a delicate man having suffered from Yellow Jaundice, gall stones and inflammation of the bladder. He was two months in bed about 18 months ago. His 73 year old mother lives with a widowed sister and is in a difficult financial position.[See also NRCC/Cl 9/1/2646]
