Summary of case: The employer states that the man is indispensable if they area to continue trading. He is the only man who can drive the heavy goods vehicles which are too heavy for women to handle. He was told to apply to the substitution officer for a driver but was told no one was capable of driving such vehicles. His employee is on the Army list for services in an emergency and had been released for service in the army two years before but turned down at the time as being medically unfit having had rheumatic fever twice. The tribunal states that a substitute may be found and women are driving many vans in York
