Summary of case: The appellant is one of eight siblings; three older brothers have joined the colours, one of whom has been killed. He was employed by NER but due to the family's income being so reduced he was obliged to leave to seek work at a man's wage. The applicant's work involves mixing fertilizer for farmers and allotment holders. A strong man is absolutely necessary and according to the applicantÂ’s employer, a suitable replacement is practically impossible to get at the present time.
