Summary of case: Brown asks to continue in current occupation of ploughing, sowing and looking after 60 ewes. His father is dead and he looks after the farm of 80 acres on his own. He part owns the farm with his mother. The local tribunal suggested he be exempted on condition that he undertook to plough 8 acres of recently laid grass land, but, he declined “to fall in with the suggestion”. He has a brother, Jackson Brown, on another farm half a mile away of just 52 acres and is capable of managing both farms.
