Summary of case: Lawty claims serious hardship if called up. He has previously been exempt. His parents are both in poor health and his father is “childish minded” and his mother suffers from diabetes and her health is failing fast. Neither parents are able to work, aged 62, and have no means of income. Lawty states the army allowance would not be enough to keep his parents. There are debts owning, including the Doctors bill. The local tribunal had granted a temporary exemption provided he join the Volunteer Training Corps, he has attended 86 drills, he has also volunteered in case of other national emergencies. At work he is the only man left other than the manager. He is willing to do any work locally that is asked of him. [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/1809]
