Summary of case: Believing all war to be contrary to the teachings of Christ I claim exemption on conscientious grounds from all military service and submit that I am doing the best National Service I am able under the circumstances in continuing my present employment as a food distributor over a large area. My business circumstances are no easier than when I appeared before you 6 months ago. My father (and partner) is still unable to take any part in the business and there is no likelihood of his being able to do so for a long time to come. If I were not permitted to continue my present work there would be no capable hand left to manage the business which would involve considerable hardship upon my father and not a few of our customers. Might I add that but for the illness of my father I should probably have still been with the Friends War Victims Relief Expedition or have joined the Friends Ambulance Unit.
