Summary of case: Smith is in charge of 5 horses working on the farm. It is an arable farm of 333 acres, which has 40 acres of wheat 180 acres of corn 58 acres of mangles and turnips. Also there are cattle sheep and pigs. Only five men and two boys of thirteen men are now employed on the farm. Two of the men are over 65 and 70 years old. ‘Owing to shortage of labour and unfavourable weather the work is greatly in arrears.’ [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/2167]
