Summary of case: Nesbitt had previously applied for an exemption but this was refused as he had a civil occupation. Nesbitt was suffering from measles and had been ill for two weeks by the time of the tribunal, the court of appeal was at the end of this period and as he was still unwell he sent a telegraph wanting to postpone this hearing and stating a doctor’s note was being sent. There is a letter from his father the Rev J C Nesbitt confirming that he already had five sons in active service and hospital. Durham Medical Board passed him for A General Service after this illness. [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/213]
