Summary of case: Dodds is engaged in general farm work and cowman; he also assists on his elderly uncle’s farm during busy periods. His mother is dead and he has a sister who is ill and is unable to undertake any domestic duties, which he carries out on her behalf. He has a nervous condition and has been registered C1 by the RMB. In Oct 1916 the local tribunal granted him temporary exemption for three months, he was granted a further month conditional on remaining in his current occupation. North Riding Tribunal granted a further exemption until Jul 1917 conditional on his continuing to assist his uncle, half of the time.
