Wittup is in business, wholesale and retail on his own account, and rents the business property from his father who had to give it up due to ill health on the orders of Dr Wilson. His father's only income is the rent from the shop. Wittup's five brothers have been called up, three in the Canadian forces and two in the Navy. The parents do not get any separation allowance for the five sons. He was granted exemption by the local tribunal and the military representative appealed against this.
