Summary of case: Appeal made by his employer to whom Charles Atkinson was apprenticed, the terms of the apprenticeship being seven years. It would cause extreme hardship if Atkinson was taken from him, as he is in poor health and would be unable to carry on owing to the heavy nature of the work. It is impossible to get anyone competent enough as a replacement. Out of 34 blacksmiths in the city only 14 were left.
