Summary of case: Ward senior gives very full details of the workings of his three farms and explains why he cannot find any substitute for his son. The local tribunal had granted exemption to a younger son in June 1916, until October 1916 (later extended to June 1917), and the older son exemption to 23 November 1917 They were of the opinion that one of the sons should serve his country, preferably the younger and less experienced son.
