Summary of case: Magson is chiefly employed in repairs to agricultural implements etc. His employer also does repairs for a Government controlled leather factory. He also mentions that Magson's mother is a widow with two elder sons already serving in France. The local tribunal refused the application. Their reasons for this included ‘In view of the requirements of the army, the tribunal could not see their way to grant an exemption to this young man as they considered he was more necessary to the army that to his master.’
