The local tribunal had adjourned one appeal for medical examination, and then given a final decision of exemption granted to 15 April 1917, to get the ploughing done and conditional upon joining North Riding Volunteer Regiment. They had discovered that the son had taken over the carting business of a man who had been called up, and actually spent very little time on the land.
