Summary of case: Appellant states that he is the sole provider for village only shop, carried on as a general store also post office. If he was taken he would be compelled to close down which would mean financial ruin, there is a mortgage of £600 on the place, the village would also be left without a post office. The local tribunal were of the opinion that it was not in the national interest for this man to remain in civil employment The man himself has a motor car in which he does a lot of passenger carrying and in his absence his business is carried on by wife and an assistant who could undoubtedly carry on if man joins the colours
