Summary of case: The original application was by his employer, Isaac Bell, who has only this man on a 30 acre farm, one of two farms he is running. He looks after 1500 head of pure-bred poultry including the incubator. He was given exemption by the local tribunal until 31 Oct 1916, and then extended to 1 May 1917. The military representative states ‘This man should be called up immediately for service as there is sufficient labour on the farm to carry it on without him.’
