Summary of case: The employer is a farmer who has lost two employees since the war began and now has just three men for the 230 acre farm of which 130 acres are arable. Coulthard is the only horseman for the 14 horses on the farm. The local tribunal had originally given temporary exemption given in 17 Jan 1917 until a substitute could be found.
