Summary of case: He was originally granted temporary exemption to 1 October 1916. On 7 Feb 1917 the case was adjourned to allow the “munitions people” to make an application for him. This was done and he started work on the manufacture of lenses. If he goes into the army he will suffer serious hardship as he has spent between £5000 and £6000 in alterations and improvements of the properties he owns.[See also NRCC/CL 9/1/1806]
