Summary of case: The appellant said that he was employed in military work of importance for the Royal Engineers. His appeal was rejected on 17 May 1916 and he did not receive a pink form by 1 Sept 1916. He was not included in the exemption list issued by the War Office. He then took up other responsibilities in the national interest by preparing for examinations to become a teacher of woodwork. Jennings has also appealed on medical grounds, but this was not brought before the local tribunal. Spalding, the clerk to York local tribunal states that [Jennings] ‘being an attested man this is entirely a matter for the Medical Board to deal with.’
