Summary of case: North Riding Appeal Tribunal had granted temporary exemption until 1 Jan 1917. They are appealing for an extension of this exemption. Walter Kilvington is a skilled man employed in his father's business, which has large contracts for munitions and other essential works such as ropes and nets for ammunition wagons and handles for grenades. On 25 Sept 1916 the North Riding Appeal Tribunal had also granted two month's exemption to his brother, who has since joined up. The Labour Exchange in York has asked him to remove his advertisement for a replacement worker as it is impossible to locally obtain a man with the necessary skills. [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/1654]
