Summary of case: Lord was the manager of the Northallerton Dairy. He had previously been an instructor at the Midland Agricultural and Dairy College, Kingston, Nottinghamshire and his technical knowledge and skill in the treatment and distribution of milk was 'indispensable'. Additionally, 19 other men from the company had already joined the colours and the business was depleted of experienced men.
