Summary of case: Employer appealed to local tribunal on grounds that he was 65 years old and in poor health. He has been unable to find a substitute and would be obliged to give up the farm if his employee was called up. Temporary exemption was granted until 31 Mar 1917 and man to appear before Medical Board. Military representative appealed against exemption on grounds that it was 'inexpedient in the national Interest this man be retained in Civil employment in the present crisis beyond his exemption period. Co-operation with his brother's neighbouring farm being possible to clear him for service without injury or hardship'.
