Summary of case: The original application to the local tribunal argued that he was indispensable to the dispensing chemists business and he was granted temporary exemptions on 8 August and 20 November 1917. There was also a question as to his fitness for military service. On 12 December his application was refused but the military representative agreed not to call him up for one month. He appealed on 15 Dec 1916 but this was dismissed. His solicitor then applied for the case to be reconsidered by the appeal tribunal as his employer had died but this was dismissed. Leave to appeal to the Central Tribunal was also refused.
