Summary of Case: ‘I occupy the Durham Ox Inn at Lockton along with 10 acres of land at Lockton ….and four acres of grass land at ….I keep 50 sheep, two horses and 13 beasts and have no one to help me and I do cattle dealing in my spare time. I am a married man with wife and one child wholly dependent on me.’ The local tribunal stated that Hall’s wife looked after the inn and he spent more time dealing in cattle than actual farming.
