Summary of Case: First and second appeals were made by Harry on 25 Feb and 16 May 1916. A third application by the military requested a revision of the certificate of conditional exemption granted at the earlier appeals. The local tribunal felt that he could be replaced by a medically unfit man who had done the work while Harry was on holiday. ‘I am in a certified occupation. It is expedient in the national interest that I should be employed in the work in which I am habitually engaged. Serious hardship would ensue if I were to be called up for army service.’
