Summary of Case: In a previous application by his employer R H Mackridge, Edward Freestone was given exemption until 1 Jan 1917 on grounds a and d. with leave to appeal again. Edward Freestone made an application as to exemption in Dec 1916: He partially maintained his invalid mother and sister, dependant wife and three children. He stated he had three brothers in the Army and another in an asylum, and another who had died in Leicester Asylum. As a baker he felt he would ‘be doing more use for my country doing work of national importance.’ [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/1553]
