Summary of case: ‘This man is employed on important war work in connection with the Skinningrove Iron ….. and Bensol department, also on castings that are used to darken the furnaces and steel works against zeppling [sic] raids. One of my core makers as [sic] joined the army and I have been unable to fill his place therefore I have had to put a moulder to make cores this has thrown me back with deliveries as I supply Skinningrove with the bulk of their castings.’ Local tribunal had previously granted small periods of exemption up to 6 December 1916. They stated that the foundry was not controlled by the Minister of Munitions and neither was the man badged. The local tribunal cannot agree that he is indispensable. They have already given exemption to another employee and are of the opinion this man should be released to join the Army at once.
