The man himself has two brothers in the Army and one in the Navy and is the only one left to help his widowed mother. Local tribunal dismissed his appeal but recommended it to the Substitution Committee. Local tribunal cannot agree that four men were employed on this farm previous to the War. He had been given previous periods of exemption however on the last occasion decided that he should be released for the Army by substitution. Watson states that ‘I have lost the services of my wife who is suffering from mental trouble and consequently I have no female labour on the farm.’
