Summary of case: Appellant to local tribunal was his father who can only do light work on 120 acre farm. Local tribunal gave son conditional exemption to 29 Nov.1917. Military representative appealed stating that temporary exemption to 1 January 1917 and he should be substituted. An appeal to the Central Tribunal was completed and submitted by the solicitor on behalf of his father. This was not sent to the Central Tribunal. There is a letter from his father quoting PM Asquith and the need to keep skilled labour on farms. Wilson’s father has two sons and he is prepared for the younger son, Arthur Wilson, to go and this experienced man to stay. Letter from Clerk of the County Appeal Tribunal dated 18 Dec 1916 that the Appeal Tribunal suggested both sons should go before the Medical Board at Richmond and if both were passed for general service the tribunal would raise no objection to the younger son going in place of John Henry Wilson.
