Summary of case: October 28th 1916 an appeal was made to the local tribunal by Mr Sigsworth's employers Guisborough Urban Council. Due to his poor eyesight, the local tribunal recommended that Mr Sigsworth be medically examined. The military representative claimed that the local tribunal was not legally competent to judge as they were an interested party. The military representative stated that the recommendation of the advisory committee was that Sigsworth should go.
