This man was the sixth out of seven of his assistants to be called up and a substitute was unobtainable. The local tribunal stated that he had been granted an exemption for one month on his first application was not to be called up until 1 Jan 1917 as 'this will get the appellant over Christmas. The local tribunal 'could not agree to exemption to 1 Feb 1917 as they have been most lenient in giving to a general service man the exemption already granted.'
