Summary of case: Bosomworth's employer appealed for an exemption to allow for stocktaking and clearance sale taking place during January 1917. This man was the sixth out of seven of his assistants to be called up and a substitute was unobtainable. The local tribunal stated that he had been granted an exemption for one month on his first application was not to be called up until 1 Jan 1917 as 'this will get the appellant over Christmas. The local tribunal 'could not agree to exemption to 1 Feb 1917 as they have been most lenient in giving to a general service man the exemption already granted.'
