Summary of case: Wilfred Gray and a boy of 14 1/2 years were the only staff left on Gray's father's farm of 124 acres, his other man having left him on 21 Mar 1916, and no replacement available. The military representative appealed against the temporary exemption granted until 1 Mar 1917 with the condition to join the Volunteer Training Corps, on the grounds that Gray was not in a certified occupation and the length of exemption was contrary to the spirit of the recent regulations and instructions.
