Summary of Case: A Special Constable, suffering with haemorrhoids and an anal fissure. He has decided to have an operation to repair this. He also had a severe nervous breakdown four years ago. The attending doctor writes that he 'is a martyr to haemorrhoids and is totally unsuited for hard work.’ In his opinion Mr Hale is ‘not fit for military service.’ The military doctors disagreed with this diagnosis and passed him B1 [Garrison duty abroad]
