Summary of case: Lawson applied for exemption as he was the only man on the farm and his employer was ill. He was granted conditional exemption provided he remained in his current occupation and joined the Volunteer Training Corps. The military representative questioned why Lawson had been given exemption. This appeal was allowed with temporary exemption to 1 Jan 1917. This is to be final unless a further application is made with the leave of the North Riding Appeal Tribunal. Subsequently an application for leave to appeal was made dated 17 Feb 1917. Because the application was out of time the North Riding Appeal Tribunal was not prepared to re-hear the case.
