Summary of case: Cass said he was in partnership with his father and brother on the farm and that he was the only able workman and horseman there, his brother being a ‘paralised [sic] and deformed cripple’. The clerk of the local tribunal said the brother was only slightly deformed and quite able to work. The local tribunal allowed exemption to 1 Nov 1916 so they could get the harvest in.
