Summary of case: The local tribunal had agreed a temporary exemption to 23 Oct 1916. As well as being the only person trusted by his employer to run the store, Blenkinsop also ran his own mineral water business and would have to sell it at a loss, causing hardship, if called up. Also he stated he had been passed as fit for garrison duty only. The military representative had appealed, on the grounds that it was inexpedient; also that the ‘procedure of the local tribunal in this case not in accordance with the meaning of the regulations’.
