Summary of case: Binks had had exemptions to March, then May 1916. Lambert had said that, without Binks to help him on the farm, he would have to give up the land and ‘have a sale’. The local tribunal refused to allow further exemption and Lambert appealed to the North Riding Appeal Tribunal and this, too, refused the appeal as it was not in the national interest that Binks remain in his present occupation.
