Description | North Riding appeal tribunal number: 1569 Appeal against conscription of: John Lawrence Peacock Age: Not stated Address: Punchard House, Arkengarthdale Occupation: Shepherd Local tribunal: Reeth Rural District Council Central tribunal: No Military Service Act 1916 or Attested: Attested Grounds for appeal: Not stated Appellant: S W Williams, Captain, Military Representative Summary of case: This man was granted conditional exemption by local tribunal. I applied for review, tribunal again granted conditional exemption against which I now appeal. This man is one of four brothers none of whom are serving. The father is a well to do farmer. One son is mentally deficient and unable to work on the farm. Two other brothers are on farms of their own close by and could, and should assist the father. Much adverse comment has been made underhand on the fact that none of his family are serving. Supporting evidence: No Date and decision of North Riding Appeal Tribunal: 9 Sep 1916. Allowed. Military appeal. Exemption to 1 Nov 1916. |
