I am at present on a private contract for the same firm and the only Joiner on the job. That my wife is in bad health having undergone an operation for an Internal complaint which was not the success that we hoped for she is constantly having attacks. Also having four children one of which my wife would get no allowance for he being 16 in July and apprenticed to joinering at 3/- a week and I think my family would not be able to live in comfort on the allowance she would receive. That I am in bad health myself having had appendicitis twice also having had the cartilages damaged of both knees and being a sufferer with chronic nasal bronchial catarrh. My wife being in bad health cannot do the whole of her household work I myself having to help her at the weekends, as I cannot possibly pay for any assistance out of my earnings, much less would she be able to do so out of the allowance, and in case of her having to undergo a second operation I could not pay for anyone to look after my children. I myself do not claim to be an absolute Invalid but have constant attacks of colic and much trouble with my knees.
