Summary of case: I am in business at Ugthorpe as a dealer in pigs, corn meals, and have been so for six years. I have a large connection and my turnover is a considerable one. My district comprises the whole of Cleveland and the Whitby district. I applied for exemption previously and was granted a temporary one. Since that time I have been examined by the Medical Board at Richmond, and have been passed for Home Service (Labour Units or on command garrison or Regimental outdoor employment) only, and in these circumstances I applied for conditional exemption. My application was refused, and I appeal against that decision on the ground that is more in the National interest that I should remain in my present occupation rather than have to sacrifice all my business for such reduced military service, as I have been passed for.
