The appellant has managed the business of a credit draper since the illness, and death, of his father, which took place in March 1915. At the time the appellant undertook this, the business was in a very bad way, and the appellant has had to work very hard during the past two years, to get it worked up again.’ He still has debts to pay off and it would cause serious hardship to his mother and grandmother, who are both ill, if he were called up.
