The local tribunal decided that Milner be exempted from combatant service only and were not satisfied with his explanation for refusing to undertake any form of non-combatant service. ‘He gave no satisfactory evidence that he belonged to any Religious Society which held doctrines against participation in anyway under Military discipline. The man already having the benefit of a conditional certificate obtained by his employers. This application was adjourned until the employer’s certificate was cancelled.
