Summary of case: He is essential to the family business as manager of the wholesale warehouse of the business of dry-salters, oil and colour merchants, as there is no one else able to mix paints etc. He has a delicate wife and two young children. The local tribunal were of the opinion that the business could continue without him and refused exemption but the military authorities agreed not to call him up for one month.
