Summary of case: He has already served having been mobilised with the Army Service Corps and sent with the first Expeditionary Force to France and was in the retreat from Mons. On the death of his father in December 1915 he took his discharge on the expiration of his term of service on 20 Mar 1916 in order to support his mother. The local tribunal thought he should serve as then his mother would be entitled to the full separation allowance.
