Summary of case: Our Business is a country trade depending largely on travelling for orders over a wide area including York, Middleham, Stockton, Redcar, Saltburn, Cleveland, Wensleydale, Swaledale, Teasdale and Bishop Auckland District. My age is now 69 and I am under medical advice to give up the travelling, and my son is manager, buyer and principal traveller. If these journeys are given up it will be a serious loss to the business. He is also indispensable as buyer in which capacity he has been for 8 years. Two of my three son are already in the Army, one from the business. His is married and has a wife and three children to support.
