William was starred man under the Lord Derby Scheme. William wrote asking to withdraw the military form he had sent as he was unaware he had to attest until the ‘last day or two’. Mother wrote to state that William had been to the Richmond Military Barracks and been medically rejected as ‘unfit (physically) for any part of His Majesty’s Forces’ and requested that the appeal be withdrawn on these grounds.
