Summary of case: ‘This is the only horseman I have on a farm of 105 acres 55 acres arable 50 grass. I have five working Horses three young ones 35 cattle and 35 sheep, 11 pigs, besides Cartwright I have a son aged 24 who looks after the cattle and he has to manage the farm as I am a widow and unable to do so myself and I have a boy 14 years old and should like Cartwright to stop until after hay time and harvest and then I might be able to manage after that time. I might also say that Cartwright has been examined by the Medical Board and passed for garrison duty.’
