Summary of case: ‘That Mr Gothorp his employer has ten men in his employment five of whom are of military age and on a claim for exemption for a man aged 28 on a previous occasion. I made a compact with Mr Gothorp that I would not object to that case if he would release a younger and less experienced man. I did not object and Mr Gothorp mentioned this man Steel whose case consequently I asked the tribunal to review. He now refuses to release this man. He is not a good Horseman. Mr Gothorp is much better staffed than most of his neighbours and ought from patriotic motives to release this man and obtain an ineligible substitute.’
