Summary of case: ‘I have a wife and 5 children to support also I have an invalid father who has been confined to the house for 12 months with chronic heart disease and dropsy, and an aged mother 77years old to support I pay them 4/- per week. I have no child working as their ages are 3, 6, 8, 11 and 12. I find that if I have to join the army my home will have to suffer. Therefore I beg of you for conditional exemption or temporary exemption.’
