Summary of case: Appellant on behalf of claimant states that apart from a 15 year old girl he is the sole worker in his greengrocers business after having lost an employee to the war. He also has to assist his father’s and brother's business, as they are being short-handed. He believes that if he were to be enlisted, it could mean the closure or one or two of the businesses. His brother has already enlisted. The local tribunal are of the opinion that there is still another brother with a business in York and that he could help with the businesses, but this was not disclosed by the appellant's solicitor.
